HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh took time out of Polo at Guards Polo Club to watch the Meet of the Champions and Parade of the British Driving Society, of which The Duke is Patron.
The 53rd Annual Show of the British Driving Society took place on Smith's Lawn on Sunday 25th June, and society was celebrating it's Diamond Anniversary.
Earlier in the day Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of the Earl and Countess of Wessex claimed 2nd place in the Ride and Drive.
Lady Louise is the Queen’s youngest granddaughter and has been driving for two years, following in her grandfather HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s footsteps - making her first public carriage driving debut at Royal Windsor Horse Show in May, when she lead The Meet of British Driving Society.
The carriage Lady Louise used was The Queen’s French Pony Chaise, driven by Her Majesty (then Princess Elizabeth) at the first Windsor Horse show in 1943 to raise funds to buy a Hurricane during World War II.
The recently re furbished Queen’s French Pony Chase was originally built in 1875 and was given to the Prince of Wales, later to become King Edward VII.
The Pony is Balmoral Phantom grandson of the queens homebred Fell riding pony Carltonlima Emma.
